Firefly VC

Sherman Firefly V was a British adaptation of the M4A4 fitted with the potent 17lb gun. This model was rushed into service in time for the Normandy invasion to counter German heavy tank models like the Panther and Tiger . The vehicle had a reduced crew of 4 to accommodate the larger ammunition and the hull mounted machine gun was removed . Initially issued at one per troop to British Canadian and Polish Armoured Divisions.
